Feng Shui in any home

Posted on 2018-08-04 07:22:01 by BlindsDirect

A little information on what Feng Shui is, if you're not very familiar with it.

Feng Shui is the ingenious practice dating from ancient Chinese culture that teaches how objects should be rearranged in a certain way in a house for a balanced and harmonious ambience. Following the Feng Shui layout, household items find their rightful and appropriate place. The goal is to enhance the flow of "chi", meaning "natural energy" or "life force" in Chinese.

This home decor art is easy to apply in any type of space as you don't have to make major renovations and no money spending has to be involved. Feng Shui brings big benefits, such as beauty, inner peace, wealth and better quality of living in time, with small, effortless steps.

Here are some basic principles that are aimed to rejuvenate and give a new breath to any home or apartment.

While trying to go through these improvement steps, you will start identifying the problem areas that need most attention. The three energy centers of a home are the bedroom, the kitchen and the bathroom, so don't forget to take special care of these, but don't neglect other areas either, as they can sooner or later spread the negative energy throughout your whole house.

Reorganize furniture. You need to be able to move freely around the house and unhindered. Feng Shui doesn't agree with a mass of unnecessary pieces of furniture, that don't go well together, so get furniture that sticks out or gets in the way out of the picture.

Place seats facing the door, to see who comes into the room. Having your back to the door can be rather uncomfortable.

In Feng Shui the idea is for everything to reside where it belongs. Because the bedroom is a place of relaxation, tranquility and sleeping, move the computer, the television or exercise equipment in the office or living room, where mental and physical activity is usually conducted. Avoid placing the bed in direct line with the door, as this will expose you to excessive flowing energy and cause irritability. Have soothing and calming colours in this room, and go for vibrant and bright ones in the kitchen, for example.

In the living room fill crannies and corners that are usually empty spaces with lamps or plants. If you're planning on getting a dining table, make sure this is oval or octagonal shaped.

Should you have mirrors on the walls, try to position them at head level and keep them clean and decoration-free.

A large amount of energy passes in and out of the house through the entrance door, so throw out or find another spot to put your shoes, recycling bins, flower pots or whatever you keep in that area. This also applies for other spaces in your home, like closets, the basement or the garage, which takes us to removing useless clutter from all over your home, a key rule in Feng Shui.

You can always donate or recycle stuff that have lost their value or use. To some people it's very difficult giving up on their belongings, even when unwanted or meaningless. But clearing the atmosphere and letting energy circulate around will do wonders to the spirit.

We have talked about objects lying at the surface, but hidden spaces that usually get overlooked and are hard to reach like behind the refrigerator, bookcases, wardrobes, have to be cleaned as well.

Add a gentle touch with the help of soft furnishings. Curtains, roman blinds, decorative cushions and table cloths will immediately boost the Feng Shui in any interior, especially in the colours suitable for each type of room, like discussed earlier. Keep curtains pulled to the sides during the day and roman blinds raised to let natural light invade the room, and retracted at night, because a naked window is thought to bring misfortune.

The purpose of Feng Shui methods is to nourish living areas through enabled movement of energy, and by understanding it better, anyone can discover in themselves how they can change the way they live in order to be happier and at peace.
